BUSHNELL, FL AGRItunity Pre-Conference Farm Tour and Hydroponics Workshop, January 27, 2012. The UF/IFAS Extension offices of Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Pasco and Sumter counties have organized a farm tour and a workshop on producing vegetables using hydroponics for Friday, January 27th.
The farm tour will last all day and will tour four farms in Hernando and Pasco counties. The featured farms produce a variety of vegetable, fruit and livestock crops. The tour leaves from the West Central Florida Agriculture Center in Bushnell at 8:30 AM and will return by 5:00 PM. The fee for the tour is $30 and lunch and transportation are included.
For people interested in learning to produce crops using hydroponic methods, (without soil) there will be a workshop called the ABC’s of Hydroponics on January 27th from 12:00 Noon until 4:30PM. The workshop will include lunch and topics such as how to get started, selecting a system, media choices, marketing and more. At the end of the workshop the group will tour a nearby hydroponics farm. The instructor for the workshop is Bob Hochmuth of the UF North Florida Research and Education Center.
